Hailing from New York, Mary arrived at veganism by accident and has been amassing a dedicated following on Instagram ever since. She has toured with singer Ellie Goulding as her personal chef whipping up vegan delights, and has even cooked for actor Jeremy Priven (HBO’s Entourage).

She will be releasing her highly anticipated cookbook Nom Yourself: Simple Vegan Cooking later this year, which is now available to pre-order.

James Aspey
Voiceless365

James Aspey is a vegan and animal rights activist from Sydney who embarked on a life changing and inspiring challenge Voiceless365 – a 365 day vow of silence to raise awareness for animals and peace over violence. In 2014, James ended his vow live on Australia’s most popular morning TV show, and now he’s sharing his inspiring story with the world.

Pana Barbounis
Pana Chocolate Founder

Pana Barbounis founded Pana Chocolate with the intention of creating a rich, luxurious chocolate that the whole world could enjoy.

A chocolate that made people stop, if only for a moment, to enjoy a myriad sensations: cacao melting on the tongue, surprising bursts of citrus or herb, the sweetness of agave, the character of coconut; a sophisticated chocolate that is at once smooth and textured, sweet and spicy.

Made from organic ingredients with no refined sugar, and produced using minimal heat. Chocolate that loves what’s within, as well as the earth it came from.

From making, packing and riding around on his scooter delivering each bar, to growing his team to deliver thousands of packages of love around Australia, and now – the world.

This is the story of Pana Chocolate, and it continues with you.

Anthony Walsgott
 Save a Cow

Anthony Walsgott is a long time vegan, animal legal rights lawyer, activist and public speaker who founded Save A Cow in 2010. Anthony has so far bought over 150 cows, making Save A Cow one of the largest cow sanctuaries in the world.

In 2004 Anthony also founded Walsgott Animal Law Service (WALS) conducting legal actions in Queensland courts against multinational developers, which is estimated to have saved tens of thousands of wildlife animals.

ABOUT

Our names are Andrew and Tiffany.

We are a couple from Sydney with collective histories in music promotion, arts and health who decided back in 2013 that the people of Australia needed a Festival to celebrate the amazing vegan community and a space to share ideas on the social and welfare issues facing us today. Somehow we managed to convince our vegan spirit animal Isa Chandra Moskowitz (of Post Punk Kitchen fame) it’s a good idea too. That’s when Sydney Vegan Festival was born.

Without any corporate sponsorship or financial backing, the first Vegan Festival was held in Sydney on 29 March 2014 and attended by around 700 people. Isa Chandra Moskowitz, Terry Hope Romero and Vegan Black Metal Chef headlined the inaugural Festival with their special blend of live cooking demos and hilarious anecdotes. We also took them to the people of Melbourne and Brisbane, who loved it. And thankfully nothing caught on fire in the process.

The second year of Vegan Festival took place in both Sydney and Melbourne in March 2015. Headlined by the badass kids at Thug Kitchen and the inspiring vegan bodybuilder Jim Morris, Sydney sold out with over 1000 attendees. We were bowled over by the wonderful feedback from our punters, and we realised the massive potential and reach the Festival had in promoting a cruelty free, vegan lifestyle in a fun and positive way.

With Brisbane (12 December 2015) and Perth (13 December 2015) Vegan Festivals next, we are dreaming up bigger and better ways to promote the benefits of a vegan lifestyle for animals, people and the planet around Australia. We can’t wait to see where Vegan Festival takes us next!

FAQs

What does the ticket include?

Your ticket gains you admission to the amazing line-up of international and local guest speakers, cooking demonstrations, live music as well as access to a range of market stalls from local vegan food vendors, products, charities and animal welfare organisations plus more!

Is the stall area free entry?

No. The stall area is part of the entire festival which is ticketed.

Is food included in the ticket price?

No. Food and products will need to be purchased directly from the stalls.

Where does the money from the ticket sales go?

The Vegan Festival is entirely self-funded by the organisers and exists without the help of private backing or corporate sponsorship. Money from ticket sales go back into the running of the Festival such as venue costs, guest and artist fees, ticketing and event expenses. Any profits are also reinvested to run future events.

We are currently in the process of finding amazing animal welfare charities to partner with - it's important to us that a portion of ticket sales goes directly to a cause we're passionate about. We will share more information about this in the near future.

What other events have you held?

We have over 10 years experience in event management and touring international bands. Vegan Festival has also being held in Sydney and Melbourne the past two years.

I'd like to be involved in the Festival - how do I go about it?

We would love to hear from you! Whether you wish to be a stallholder, presenter, volunteer or just want to give us feedback, please get in touch via the 'Contact Us' box.
